THE WORD LORD

The word “Lord” is an interesting word. It means one’s superior, master, nobleman, one of a superior class, a person of power. In America, since this is supposedly a classless society, this word is nearly always used to indicate God. However, in Britain, which has a caste system, this word is nearly always used to indicate a person of the upper class and seldom is used to refer to God because today most people in Britain claim to be atheists.

Jesus is our Lord. He is our Sovereign. At Christmastime we often think of Jesus as a little babe in a manger as we smilingly stand looking down at Him, but we should remember that even when He was a baby in a manger He was still our Lord. Matthew 2:11 says, And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him... Our position should not be looking down as we stand over Him, but we should be bowing below Him, prostrate if necessary.

Here in America, Christ denying politically correct unbelievers listen to liberal politicians who say that we should say “Happy Holidays” in order to avoid offending voters of non-Christian faiths, but in doing this they offend the Lord, who is the all powerful King of kings! Woe unto these people who deny Him honor.

When Jesus returns at the end of the tribulation period He will come in full power and glory! He will not come as a weak, meek, mild mannered baby. He will come as THE KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS! Everyone who sees Him will fall prostrate at His feet. No one will fail to recognize His Lordship. No one will dare say “Happy Holidays!”
